It is widely accepted that we are doing one of two things. Either we are moving towards something that we feel is life enriching, or we are moving away from something we feel is life threatening.
These two responses are influenced by beliefs that we think are true, which in turn engages our autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system resides within our sub conscious mind. The degree to which we respond in either direction is based on the power and strength of the influencing belief……that thing, or things that we think are true.
Beliefs are fueled by emotion, emotion gives our beliefs their power. Have you ever seen someone get really angry, or really happy—like bust out laughing happy? In such instances, strong emotion is powering the belief driving the intense expression of the anger or the happiness.
When you stop and think about it, emotion is really the physiology of belief moving through our body. We hold beliefs in our sub conscious mind below our conscious awareness. We hold a belief as true when, or because it goes unexamined.
The parasympathetic portion of our autonomic nervous system can be reached through hypnosis, prayer or meditation. That is where Thomas Edison went daily to solve problems related to patents that he was working on. He called it sitting in the silence tuning into the “ethers” for ideas.
Our perception of the world at any given time dictates which autonomic response is triggered. Remember, we are moving towards something that we feel is life enriching, or we are moving away from something we feel is life threatening.
Self hypnosis is a quick and effective way to strengthen your parasympathetic autonomic response. You can thoroughly and responsibly learn Self Hypnosis from me here in Albuquerque in a few sessions.
