Every Negative Emotion, and Every Negative Action has a Positive Intention

It is widely accepted that we are doing one of two things. Either we are moving towards something that we feel is life enriching, or we are moving away from something we feel is life threatening.

These two responses are influenced by beliefs that we think are true, which in turn engages our autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system resides within our sub conscious mind. The degree to which we respond in either direction is based on the power and strength of the influencing belief……that thing, or things that we think are true.

Beliefs are fueled by emotion, emotion gives our beliefs their power. Have you ever seen someone get really angry, or really happy—like bust out laughing happy? In such instances, strong emotion is powering the belief driving the intense expression of the anger or the happiness.

When you stop and think about it, emotion is really the physiology of belief moving through our body. We hold beliefs in our sub conscious mind below our conscious awareness. We hold a belief as true when, or because it goes unexamined.

Remember RUN FORREST RUN”?  When we are in a fight or flight response mode we are often subconsciously dealing with a belief that we formed many years ago at a time when we lacked the adult vocabulary and awareness to express a legitimate need, or perhaps protect ourselves from real danger. This is the sympathetic response of our autonomic nervous system. It’s primary and essential job is to protect us from danger.
Positive Intention
In such instances, we did the very best we could to cope with a situation that was overwhelming, and perhaps dangerous. A learned behavior was created–a way of coping with a difficult situation. When the same (or similar) situation occur subsequently, the learned response behavior automatically kicks in as the best way of “dealing with the situation”. Every time the situation presents itself again, the learned “response program” is run. It is run until the belief is updated or replaced through examination.
The intention of the sympathetic response is to protect us from danger—which is a positive intention. Most often, we will not examine this type of primal response.
This protection response was helpful when we were living in the forest or jungle and were literally in danger often. That is not the case today in the modern world in which we live.
Positive Intention
ALL IS WELL IN THE WORLD” -Also know as a parasympathetic response. When we are in our parasympathetic response, we are in our creative problem solving mind. We have reached balance, homeostasis, calm relaxation–it’s that feeling of peace and tranquility. This is where intuition and creativity freely flow. We are “in the flow”.

The parasympathetic portion of our autonomic nervous system can be reached through hypnosis, prayer or meditation. That is where Thomas Edison went daily to solve problems related to patents that he was working on. He called it sitting in the silence tuning into the “ethers” for ideas.

Our perception of the world at any given time dictates which autonomic response is triggered. Remember, we are moving towards something that we feel is life enriching, or we are moving away from something we feel is life threatening.

Self hypnosis is a quick and effective way to strengthen your parasympathetic autonomic response. You can thoroughly and responsibly learn Self Hypnosis from me here in Albuquerque in a few sessions. This skill will last you a lifetime it will improve your health and it will only improve with use over time.
