Who is Christian

I was raised a Quaker. One of my earliest childhood memories is being in profound gratitude for all things God created. I am passionate about providing tools that support people in empowering themselves. There is

more than enough for everyone. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Christian Raphael is a Certified Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapist bringing 25 years of corporate success experience to his Hypnotherapy practice. In addition to running his private practice, Christian is an Associate Instructor and Practical Skills Coach at the World Renowned

Hypnotherapy Academy of America in Albuquerque New Mexico, and one of five Medical Support, Clinical Hypnotherapists in the United States who provided patients with standardized hypnotherapy sessions during the four-year National Institutes of Health study made possible through a successful pilot study program using hypnotherapy to treat overactive bladder syndrome. The results of the study are published here.

Christian has an early (and formative) Friends School education, a degree in Fine Arts, and a strong interest in music. Christian has a rare mix of analytical and creative skills based on service principles. His first experience with Hypnosis was in 1977 while awaiting surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.

Dangerously low platelet counts and a brain aneurysm put him into a comatose state for several days. Upon awakening, the excruciating pain was unbearable. The one thing that effectively provided ongoing consistent relief was daily Hypnotherapy sessions for pain dilution with a family member. This introduction to hypnosis at the age of 17 carried over to an ongoing practice of self-hypnosis starting in 1980. “The experience of overcoming illness has been a tremendous gift,” Raphael says. ” I have greater compassion, understanding, and empathy for what we go through as human beings”. It also gave me the awareness that I could accomplish more with selective focus.

Over the years, Christian continued exploring and developing his mind power actively using self-hypnosis, hypnotic techniques, and positive suggestions to further refine and consciously deepen his mental skills, eventually leading him to seek professional training and certification.

Christian is a graduate of the Hypnotherapy Academy of America where he successfully completed 500 hours of Clinical Hypnotherapy Training receiving his Certification as a Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapist. Christian also completed an additional 100 hours of training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). He is a Fellow of the International Board of Hypnotherapy which has the highest certification standards in the Hypnotherapy industry requiring on-going learning for recertification.

Over the years, Christian has lectured to peers at 2 international Symposiums. One time on Creative solutions for Smoking Cessation, another time presenting findings and case studies on the scientifically proven efficacy of Hypnotherapy as a durable adjunct or alternative to drug therapy in the treatment of overactive bladder and urinary urgency. Christian was scheduled to present in 2020 however the symposium was postponed due to COVID-19. The topic was more metaphysical in nature; “Integrating Resources to heal the Future”

Christian provides complimentary 20-minute consultations in his office located at 819 Vassar Drive NE adjacent to the northeast corner of the University of New Mexico Hospital campus. Call to schedule a consultation at 505-918-6555, Online sessions are also available.

Does this sound familiar?

“I spent over 20 years in high-profile, high-pressure jobs. I kept climbing a ladder, looking for deeper meaning in higher paychecks and more responsibility. I often thought that which I was seeking was one promotion away….”if I could just”, or, “when I become professionally more than I am now, I will be happy and successful”.

Then comes the “Ah-Ha moment”. Luckily I was listening, and hopefully, you’re listening if you relate to the words that you are reading.

Sometimes the voice is loud. It’s a layoff, downsizing, or re-structuring; a relationship challenge, a health Issue a financial crisis, or a new baby. Sometimes it’s soft, just like an inner knowing.

For me, it was that moment when I clearly saw that the ladder I had been climbing was leaning against a wall that I no longer wanted to scale. I knew it was time to change. I knew that it was time to incorporate what I have learned so far and keep moving forward applying what I had learned. It was just a slight but important shift in perspective. I knew there was more. Then I got it. I realized that teaching and helping other people achieve their goals was actually my goal!

Hypnosis softens critical thinking so that unconscious behavior bubbles up to a conscious realization where life-enriching habits and thoughts are strengthened and life-diminishing habits and thoughts are amended or erased. Hypnosis helps one see the truth about one’s self, that our natural state of being is Wellness.

Christian’s interests outside of Hypnotherapy include songwriting, playing guitar, and reading.

FAQS

Myth: “A Hypnotist can take control of my mind"

Fact: No one can control your mind, unless you allow him or her to do so. A hypnotherapist gives you suggestions that you want to be given, based on your therapeutic goals and objectives. At no point during hypnosis will you lose control of your mind. If you hear a suggestion that you do not agree with, or do not understand, your subconscious mind will automatically reject it.

Myth: “When Hypnotized, I will lose all sense of my surroundings, and will have no memory of being hypnotized”

Fact: Hypnosis is not an unconscious state of sleep. In fact, most people report having a heightened sense of awareness, concentration, focus, and hearing.

Myth: “I will be made to perform embarrassing acts, such as bark like a dog, or quack like a duck”

This notion is based on stage hypnosis and Hollywood fiction. The truth is that people, who volunteer to be on stage, allow themselves to participate in and respond to suggestions designed around entertainment. By contrast, hypnotherapy is a serious process of self-improvement.

"Hypnotherapy is an educational and self improvement process that facilitates access to internal resources that assist people in solving problems, increasing motivation, or altering behavioral patterns to create positive change. Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical treatment or psychotherapy. Mr. Raphael does not practice medicine or psychotherapy and his services are not a replacement for counseling, psychotherapy, psychiatric or medical treatment. No service or product provided is intended to diagnose or treat any disease or illness, psychological or mental health condition".
