Urinary Urgency Incontinence

BREAKING NEWS: According to scientifically verified research presented October 11th, 2018 at the American Urogynecologic Society Conference in Chicago IL., Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapy sessions provided a durable therapy for the treatment of Urinary Urgency Incontinence.

As stated on the Hypnotherapy Academy of America’s website,  “The 4-year study funded by the NIH and conducted at the University of New Mexico Hospital utilizing our techniques is now complete. It was a great success for hypnotherapy.”

Local Albuquerque New Mexico Hypnotherapist, Christian Raphael CMS-CHt, FIBH, is an Associate  Instructor at the Hypnotherapy Academy of America, a Fellow of the International Board of Hypnotherapy, and one of five Medical Support, Clinical Hypnotherapists who provided patients with standardized hypnotherapy sessions during the four-year National Institutes of Health study made possible through a successful pilot study program using hypnotherapy to treat overactive bladder syndrome.

Referring specifically to the NIH Study, The Hypnotherapy Academy of America goes on to state; We are receiving preliminary reports from the physician investigators which show that the patients receiving hypnotherapy had equivalent results to drug therapy, and in those patients who were moderate to highly responsive to hypnosis, the one-year follow-up showed superior results to drug therapy. While hypnotherapy may not be appropriate for everyone, this scientifically rigorous study is breaking new ground in the mainstream acceptance of hypnotherapy as an adjunctive modality.

Overactive Bladder Syndrome
According to the National Association for Continence, an estimated 33 million people (Women and Men) in the USA alone are dealing with an Overactive Bladder (OAB) – that urgent and frequent need to pass urine. And half of the people with Overactive Bladder are struggling with Urgency Urinary Incontinence (UUI) when leakage occurs

Typical symptoms of Overactive Bladder include urinating more than 8 times per day or more than once at night (urinary frequency) as well as a strong and sudden desire to urinate (urinary urgency).

Frequent Urination

Christian works with both female and male clients suffering from overactive bladder and or urgency urinary incontinence. Raphael says that “Clients following the expertly structured, scientifically verified program resolved their urinary issues, while also experiencing significant supplemental benefits (See testimonials below).

“When I first came to see Christian, I had life-long difficulty controlling my bladder. This began in early childhood. My urinary urgency came on quickly without warning-sometimes uncontrollably.  I was scolded and ridiculed by my Dad, and as a child growing up, my inability to control my bladder became the joked-about “family story”. Fearing the worst, at age 5 or 6, I began planning my activities around going to the bathroom.  I learned to severely limit myself avoiding embarrassment and physical discomfort. Fast – forward now after many years of this lifestyle, and as an adult, I once again became the “family story” with my husband and children because my condition often demanded immediate consideration regardless of where we were. When I sat down with Christian, I was angry, sad, embarrassed and anxious, hoping that he could help me.

After the first two hypnotherapy sessions, I noticed that I was calmer and more relaxed. Throughout the next 6 sessions (8 in total), I learned how to regain normal healthy bladder function. Christian taught me how to access and direct my positive mind power to do this. It is a power that we all have. Just like programming a computer, I programmed my mind to have my bladder respond creating a normal healthy urinary response. Now I go when I choose to go and live life on my terms.  I am happy to say that I transformed my life. I have a healthy normal bladder, a wonderful relationship with my family, my home building business has skyrocketed, and I am grateful for the positive optimistic attitude I have about my life.”

“Before starting hypnotherapy sessions with Christian, I was having a difficult time controlling my bladder. I experienced rapid sometimes uncontrollable urgency which significantly impacted my professional and family life. I was frustrated and upset. I limited my activities and planned my life around where I knew bathrooms were available. I drive a lot for work and this was especially uncomfortable and difficult.

I am generally a positive person, and believe in the power of prayer, living my life in faith. I could not understand why this was happening to me.

Christian encouraged me to approach hypnosis like deep prayer, with the added benefit of seeing (as well as stating), the positive outcomes I wanted to experience.   We quickly got to work on focusing my mind on my desired outcome fueled by my connection to my Higher Power. This worked for me, and after completing my work with Christian, I had achieved control of my normal healthy bladder function. During the sessions, I not only learned how to regain bladder control, I also learned the importance of taking better care of myself. I learned that I matter. Is this a miracle? No, it is great teamwork aligned with my beliefs and spiritual practice.”
